I bought one of those Pocket Qingdao deck of cards at The Diner for 50 RMB. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY that was! I ended up playing a very quick game 52 card pickup in the middle of May 4th Square.

I found the PDFs available on Qingdao China Guide very useful and better yet, they are free! You can copy individual listings from these PDFs and email them to your self as a vcard to view on your mobile phone. It's like having "The Best of Qingdao" on your phone.

Hi,

I also bought a "Pocket Qingdao" from the myRedSTAR office and wish I would have spent it on something else. I just think 50RMB is a little steep for information that can be easily found on the internet.

Also their new "RedSTAR Card" doesn't really make sense either. Most restaurants will give you a free VIP card if you ask; why would you want to pay for a 3rd party card?

Actually, if you were intending on going to any of the events put on by myRedSTAR then the card would save you some money and would pay for its self in the long run.

The VIP card most always gets you a better deal. This is what the local Chinese use. They do not waste any money on paid RedSTAR products.
Besides, you can find 99.99% of what you need via Google.

Cheers.

Hi Joe ! I can't agree more. I'm from Qingdao and studying in Tai'an, our german tutors change every semester. And every time when i introduce them these PDFs "The Best of Qingdao" , they find them very useful and very thankful for that. No need to waste money on those Pocket Qingdao , It's a waste of money. And Chinese Businessman can always benifit from the Vcards. And i could download the pdf on my mobile phone too.
